If you’re wondering what to wear to medical school interviews then this post is for you! I remember first trying to shop for a suit for the one interview I had at Case Western the first time I applied during the 2017 application cycle… and boy can suits be expensive!!
I’ll go into more detail below, but basically here is what I suggest. I’m all for conservative so I went for a black blazer, black dress pants, black FLATS (lol I suffered big time during my in person interview with small little heels that I thought would be harmless!), a white blouse, and minimal/natural makeup (if any).
I was finally able to find an affordable suit and the brand is surprisingly Calvin Klein. If you’ve been struggling to find a nice blazer under $200 and nice pants under $100 then be sure to use the links below!

What to Wear to Medical School Interviews
This blazer is perfect! It has one button, fits super well and is super clean and professional looking. It was shocking how many blazers I tried on all those years ago and 99% of them looked awful. They either had weird shoulder pads, were way too long, too many buttons, or something else that just made it look ugly lol.
It was a breath of fresh air to finally find this blazer and I LOVE it! Again, I highly suggest going with black as far as the color goes. You want to stand out during your med school interviews, but because of your outfit!
I actually purchased this blouse after my first few interviews. The white tank top I was wearing before looked fine in person, but on Zoom it looked waaaaay too low cut. I needed something that was much higher up + simple white + affordable. It felt like a risk ordering it on Amazon, but it turned out to be EXACTLY what I was hoping for! I also like that it is pleated in the front as well instead of completely plain. It is nothing too crazy and looks super professional for interviews.
Obviously once you find a great blazer you just need the matching pants so these are Calvin Klein as well and I I love them! I am pretty short, but I didn’t have to get them hemmed and they are incredibly comfortable. Most importantly, they are affordable as well!
The exact flats I have are actually from DSW but these are very similar, super affordable, and won’t leave you with the major foot pain and blisters that heels would! Believe me, if you are anything like me you’ll be crying on the inside from the pain of even the SMALLEST of heels! I really thought I had picked the perfect little heels for my in person interview in 2017, but I was so wrong haha. I highly suggest black FLATS!
Also, pro tip: Since Amazon returns are so easy these days I would get 2-3 sizes so you can get the right fit on the first try then just the ones that don’t fit for a refund!
Another tip: If you have multiple interviews definitely take your blazer to the dry cleaners after each interview or every other! Sweat is inevitable when you’re talking about being in the hot seat for up to an hour or more and it will smell gross if you don’t! Believe me I know because I went to 13 interviews right in the middle of COVID which meant ALL the dry cleaners around me were closed 😭 I literally might have to get a new blazer now bc I think it’s past the point of saving 😅
