It makes such a huge difference to have a cozy area where you actually enjoy spending time.
Honestly, when your office feels like a prison, you’ll never want to study. However, when it’s full of cute gadgets and decorations you love? It’s a whole new experience!
This post is all about how I turned my offices in both Colorado and Washington into aesthetic workspaces, so I can get excited about studying.

Aesthetic Office of a Medical Student
Colorado Office
We set up the office in our house in Colorado (where we usually live) in one of our spare bedrooms, so it’s pretty big. That means I have plenty of room to spread out my stuff and even go crazy with decorations!
Here’s a breakdown of all my favorite items from my Colorado office.
Standing Desk
Getting a standing desk was a total game-changer for me. I love having the freedom to stand up, sit down, and move around my space while I’m studying. Above all, I feel much more active. It also prevents me from feeling cramped up when I’m stuck in my office for hours. Plus, I love that it has charging ports built right into the side which is super convenient when you have lots of devices!
Office Chair
I know some people might not agree with me, but I need a comfy chair for my studying. I’ll be miserable if I have to spend hours in a dreadfully uncomfortable chair every day! Therefore, the chair I currently have in my office has such nice, thick padding, and the color matches the overall aesthetic of the room perfectly.
White & Blue Keyboard
A few months ago, I picked up this white and blue keyboard as part of a little study space refresh. The colors are super cute, and I love that it’s wireless so I can always move it around wherever I need it.
iMac
Sometimes I still can’t believe they make pink iMacs… and I have one! The big screen is great for both studying and lecture. I can fit all the windows I need onscreen at the same time with no cramming necessary. And above all, it just looks so good!
Laptop & Accessories
My MacBook is always a must-have for school or studying on the go. I like to keep it protected with this slick blue cover, so that it doesn’t come to any harm during transport. However, when I’m not using it, it lives happily and safely in this handy little laptop stand alongside my planner and a few notebooks.
iPad & Case
My iPad is another super helpful gadget that I use practically every day for studying and reviews. I’m currently keeping it in this beige leather case that matches my chair and a few of my decorations.
Full Focus Planner
I’m confidently on track and not feeling overwhelmed with the help of my Focus Planner. It helps you break down your big goals into smaller, more manageable tasks and spread them over time. If you love planning or have trouble breaking up your tasks, I highly recommend trying it out!
Cable Management Box
Am I the only one who can’t stand seeing cords running all over the place? I grabbed a nice white cable management box to help keep my cords sorted and 100% hidden from view. I’m not letting them ruin my aesthetic office!
Headphone Stand
I also picked up a headphone stand when I did my study space refresh a few months ago, since I think it looks so much nicer than leaving my headphones lying on the desk or in a drawer. It even comes with a wireless charger for your phone!
Washington Office
My husband George and I are hanging out in Seattle for a few months while I study for Step 2, so I’ve had the opportunity to completely redecorate the office space in our tiny apartment. However, it’s much smaller than the Colorado office (just a little nook in the bedroom). Yet, I think I still managed to turn it into the perfect cozy workspace and I used the items below to do it!
Desk
So, we started out with a bamboo desk in the office… and I hated it. I don’t think anything I could have done would have made my little office nook look good if I didn’t change the bamboo. Luckily, I found a way to transform it into practically a whole new desk using wood peel and stick wallpaper! If you ever end up with a desk and you are not happy with the color, you can use this wallpaper. Surprisingly, it made it look so much more aesthetic. Plus, this toolkit makes it super easy to install.
Here’s the maple version of our desk, which is similar to the color I have in Colorado.
Chair
Do I barely have enough room for this chair in my study nook? Yes. But do I regret getting it? Absolutely not! I always end up putting my legs up or sitting cross-legged while studying, and this chair has an extendable footrest that makes it so much easier for me to stay comfy while studying for hours and hours.
LED Clock
This LED clock looks so nice on my desk, and I love being able to quickly glance over and check the time no matter what task I’m in the middle of doing.
Wall Shelves
Since the Washington office is so tiny, having any kind of bookcase was basically out of the question. Luckily, I found these shelves that are the perfect replacement! My study books are always within arms reach, and I don’t have to store them in the closet to keep them out of the way.
Cable Management Clips
Since I don’t have my cable management box in Washington, and I don’t want to let pesky cables ruin my aesthetic, I grabbed these cable management clips to keep them in check. Simple and easy!
Blue Accessories
If you couldn’t already tell, blue is a big part of my aesthetic in the Washington office, so I have a lot of blue accessories hanging out around my desk. Here’s a rapid fire rundown of each one:
- Blue baskets: Cute and the perfect size to fit under the top part of my desk like a mini drawer.
- Blue organizer: Plenty of pockets to stay organized and make sure I can always find what I need.
- Blue pen bag: Has an adorable pattern and fits right next to my baskets.
- Blue Apple Pencil cover: Protects my Apple Pencil and makes it look cute.
- Blue iPad case: Makes my iPad match my office, laptop, and other accessories.
Aesthetic Push Pins
If you told me you didn’t think these were the cutest push pins you’ve ever seen, I wouldn’t believe you. I always love decorating my corkboard with pictures from my vision board, so these went on my must-have list as soon as I saw them.
Picture Frames
Also, of course, no office is complete without the finishing touch: wall decorations. I can’t stand looking at barren walls all day while studying. I picked up these blue picture frames to match the aesthetic of the new office, and I couldn’t be happier with them!
Final Thoughts
I hope this list gave you both motivation and inspiration to spruce up your office. Whether you’re studying for Step 2 like me, working through your classes, or starting a work-from-home job, I truly think having an aesthetic study space will help you feel so much happier and more excited to start the day. Happy decorating!
