The new edition of U.S. News “Best Medical Schools” rankings includes a major change – they have removed the numerical ranking and now instead use tiers for “Best Medical Schools: Research” and “Best Medical Schools: Primary Care.” 

So, say goodbye to schools “ranked #17,” for example. Now, each medical school falls into one of four tiers (with Tier 1 indicating the highest-performing schools). Within each tier, U.S. News lists the medical schools in alphabetical order. Get more details about this in my previous blog post.

However, Sidney Kimmel Medical College is the official medical school for the state of Delaware, so residents there may receive preferential treatment.

“LOVE the location, my classmates are truly the nicest people I’ve ever met, NOT competitive whatsoever (everyone helps each other out), professors, doctors, etc are great teachers and love interacting with students, and the hospital system/school is very well known and reputable in the area. Only downside is the class is ~270 so on the bigger side but haven’t had much issue with that thus far.

So many good coffee shops and study areas in the city!”
