Patient care experience is the only category I am lacking in for applying to medical school. I have been trying to find something for 2 years but it has been extremely difficult to find something that is in my price range. Working a 9-5, studying for the MCAT and saving up for the upcoming application cycle has been tough. I’ve been an unlicensed Patient Care Tech at a local ER for a few years. This training would allow me to increase my knowledge as well as be able to work in clinics. This training is great because it still allows an individual to work while in school! 🏫

This post is super helpful especially with all the options there are for undergrads now, it can be really overwhelming but this is super streamlined and I felt like I was actually able to understand my next steps after graduation and into my gap year. I’ve been wishing to work in the OB/GYN specialty as a premed for SO long, but almost all of the jobs available in NC requires MA certification, which is very expensive and the class time always conflicts with my postbac courses. This is such an incredible and thoughtful giveaway gift, especially for low-SES premeds! I actually previously looked into this training, but I was unable to swing the cost.
In order to become an MA in California, certification is required for most positions so it’s VERY tough to find jobs here without one. I also searched for MA programs at my local community colleges but they were incompatible with my demanding schedule as a postbacc student. The training being 100% remote, self-paced and short term is perfect for me as I finish up my final semester in my postbacc program. I’ll soon be beginning my job search to help sustain me during this upcoming application cycle so this quite literally could not have come at a more perfect time!

I have been looking at Advanced eClinical’s medical assistant program for a while now, and I love the program so much, but I have been hesitant to pursue it due to the cost. This article was so informative, I knew about M.A’s but I didn’t know there were other paid opportunities to gain clinical hours. I have shadowed Doctor’s but I really am trying to get clinical hours, so this is on my to do list this upcoming year!
